مؤتمر مَشْق حدثٌ بارزٌ يجمع بين المحترفين والباحثين والطلاب لاستكشاف التطورات التاريخية، المواد البحثية، التحديثات التقنية والاتجاهات الناشئة في مجال التبيوغرافيا العربية، تصميم الخطوط الطباعية، تخطيط الحرف العربي، والتواصل البصري الإقليمي بشكل خاص.

Mashq Conference is a landmark event that brings together professionals, scholars, and students to explore historical developments, research material, technology updates, and emerging trends in the field of Arabic typography, type design, lettering, and regional visual communication in particular.

بعد تأسيسها في العام 1866، أطلقت الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت أول برنامج للتصميم الغرافيكي في الشرق الأوسط والعالم العربي في عام 1992. وُضع البرنامج لتلبية حاجات المنطقة العربية وكان الأول في دمج الاستعمال الغرافيكي للّغة العربية في مواضيعها الأساسية. تضم الجامعة، بالإضافة الى ذلك، مجموعة مهمة من الكتب العربية والمخطوطات، وخاصةً تلك الموجودة في قسم «الأرشيف والمجموعات الخاصة» في مكتبات الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت.
سيُقام مؤتمر «مشق» في قاعة المحاضرات الهندسية في مبنى «دار الهندسة (Shair & Partners) الهندسة المعمارية والتصميم» بالقرب من كلية مارون سمعان للهندسة والهندسة المعمارية. -
Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut launched the first Graphic Design program in the Middle East and the Arab world in 1992. The program itself is designed to answer the needs of the Arab region and was the first to integrate the graphic use of the Arabic script in its core subject areas. More so, the university is home to an impressive collection of Arabic books and manuscripts particularly found in the Archives and Special Collections of the AUB Libraries.
Mashq conference is going to be held at the Architecture Lecture Hall (ALH) housed in the ‘Dar Al Handasah (Shair & Partners) Architecture and Design’ building right next to the Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (MSFEA).

The Arabic Type Unit is an academic entity that aims to research, develop and set standards of design in Arabic type, lettering and typography. It plans to centralize all possible resources pertaining to Arabic type development and its typographic practices, by building an archive of its historical development, publishing the research and creating forums of discussion.
